The Reading Bursary provides additional financial support to UK/EU full time undergraduate students. It provides up to £1,100 which can be taken in the form of either a cash bursary or partial fee waiver. If you opt for a cash bursary it will be paid in two instalments of 50% in October and 50% in February (these figures apply to new students commencing their studies in the 2018/19 academic year. (Any student who commenced their studies prior to this time, will be eligible for funding of up to £1,000 provided they have an assessed household income of less than £25,000).
It is available for enrolled, eligible full-time undergraduate students from England, Wales, Scotland, Northern Ireland or the EU* whose household income falls below £27,000. The Reading bursary will be made available to eligible students throughout the duration of their degree, provided their household income remains assessed as being below £27,000.
(*EU students must be assessed as eligible for funding from Student Finance England in order to qualify.)
You do not need to apply for this funding. It will be awarded automatically to eligible students who have consented to share their household income information as part of their Student Finance authority (e.g. Student Finance England) means-tested application - call the Student Loans Company on 0845 603 4016 with your Customer Reference Number to give consent to share if you haven't already done so.
