STaR Mentors are current students that have been trained to help new students with their start at Reading. Mentors contact new students by email before they start and in person during the first term.
Undergraduate and International Foundation Programme students
Every new undergraduate and International Foundation Programme (IFP) student is automatically partnered with a STaR Mentor from the same academic area in August or September before they start. New students receive details of their STaR Mentor to the personal email account they used when applying to Reading.
STaR Mentors can help with:
• Preparing for what to expect from student life
• Answering questions about starting university and studying at Reading
• Getting to know campus, making friends and settling in
Requests can be made to have a mentor of similar gender or age, or to opt out of the partnership here.
New international and EU postgraduate research (PGR) and postgraduate taught (PGT) students can apply for a STaR International Mentor. An application form will be available soon.
STaR International Mentors are available to help new students with adjusting to student life in the UK and postgraduate study at Reading.
To apply to become a STaR International Mentor for 2019/20 academic year, please complete an application form. Before you apply, make sure you read the role description and application guide carefully.
Please note, STaR International is not currently offered to postgraduate students from the UK.
